In Their Own Words
Mrs. Chan Lai-Ying
Resident, Full Comfort Package
I was not sure at first — I had lived in my flat in Wan Chai for thirty years and the thought of moving anywhere felt large. But the room here is comfortable, the kitchen remembers how I like my congee, and by the second week I already knew the names of the other people at my tea table. That surprised me.

Mr. Kwong Wai-Lun
Son of a dining programme resident
My mother joined the dining programme about eight months ago — she still lives in her own flat nearby but comes here for meals each day. What I notice most is that she mentions people by name now. She talks about what they discussed at lunch. That kind of connection was exactly what we were hoping for.

Ms. Ho Man-Yi
Daughter-in-law, arranged parent's residence
The pricing was clear from the first conversation, which meant we could make a decision without feeling uncertain about what we were committing to. The one thing I would say is that during the first two weeks the settling-in period can feel slow — but that is honestly appropriate rather than a problem. By week three my father-in-law was asking when we were planning to visit.

Mr. Lam Tsz-Kin
Resident, Garden Programme
I take the garden programme and come here each morning. It is the best part of my day — genuinely. The walk routes are nicely marked and the groundskeeper is patient when I ask questions about the plants. I did not expect to enjoy the gardening part but I now help with the herbs once a week. Very good for the mind.

Mrs. Wong Lai-Fong
Resident, Full Comfort Package
The welcome host made an enormous difference. She remembered my name before I had introduced myself twice. Small things — she noticed I prefer lighter portions in the evening, mentioned it to the kitchen without me asking. That is the kind of attention you do not expect and genuinely appreciate when you find it.
April 2025
Mr. Ng Chi-Hung
Son, helped father join dining programme
We looked at three different places before coming here. The difference was the food — my father is quite particular about Cantonese cooking, and after the first lunch visit he told me it was the best meal he had eaten in months. The pricing is straightforward and the team was patient with all our questions at the start.

How Families Have Found Their Way Here
Three accounts of how the move to Tung Lok came about — the questions families were holding, and where they arrived.
A quiet lunch that became daily company
The Starting Point
An 81-year-old former teacher in North Point whose children worked long hours. She ate alone each day and had declined social offers because they required travel. Her family was concerned about her appetite and mood.
What Changed
She joined the dining programme in January 2025. Her son brought her for a trial lunch first. She agreed to a month's subscription. By the third week she had suggested to the kitchen that the winter melon soup needed slightly more ginger — which they noted and used.
Four Months Later
She attends every meal and most tea sittings. Her son reports she calls more often than she did before — usually to describe what was served that day. She has since also started the garden access programme on weekend mornings.
"The soup really did improve." — her exact words to her son.
A family abroad, a father in Hong Kong
The Starting Point
A 76-year-old retired civil servant living alone in Happy Valley after his wife passed. Two adult children based in London. The family wanted reassurance that their father's daily needs were being met without him relocating internationally.
What Changed
He joined the full comfort package after one visit in February 2025. His named welcome host handles his laundry, a weekly pharmacy errand and occasional questions about his medical appointments (though Tung Lok is non-medical, the host helped him understand the appointment booking process).
Three Months Later
His children in London receive a written monthly note from the residence summarising how their father has been getting on. He video calls them from the garden on Saturday mornings. The family describes the situation as the first time in two years they have not felt worried.
"Knowing someone is paying attention — that is what we needed." — his daughter, from London.
